Say Hello to Rick.

Our Magical Wizard!

Through his guidance, Rick’s goal is to take your kids on a quest to learning about the importance of money and ways to help young inquiring minds into their young adult lives.

Project Goals:

For this project, I had to create wireframes for parents to learn about what the website has to offer and a way for parents to sign their children up for their first class. The goals were to:

  • Conduct research to better understand user needs.

  • Organize results to beer understand the user’s mental model.

  • Create low and mid-fidelity prototypes for users to test.

Our Team

First Ever Flatiron PD Flex Team Project!

1st Step: Research

We conducted a google survey with a goal of understanding of children’s needs for technology, challenges, and interests.

Participant goal:10 users

Final Participant Count: 13 Users

2nd Step: Organization

From the information we collected, We created a problem statement.

I then created open card sorts, user flows, and a site map. There were also other ways my teammates organized the information, such as a user persona.

3rd Step: Testing

Wireframes were created for users to test. Each prototype was created with an end goal in mind for each setup. Task Scenarios were also created for users to complete the tasks.

.

Log into the student dashboard to re-schedule the saving & budgeting class to the next available date.

Log into the parent dashboard to check your child’s progress.

.

User Results:

Task 1: 7 clicks

Task 2: 8 clicks

Task 3: 7 clicks

What users liked:

  • Concept

  • Flow of screens

  • Easy to follow tasks

Recommendations:

  • Re-wording of task scenarios

  • Re-work button designs

Next Steps:

With the completion of this project, there are some things that I will apply to my designs in the future:

  1. Apply WCAG standards to prototypes.

  2. Design for other devices formats.

  3. Apply high-fidelity colors and typography to design.

Reflection:

There are a couple things I have learned from the completion of this project:

  • Testing multiple times on a prototype is very important.

  • Creating a space for children and parents to learn and be engaged is incredibly important.

  • Teamwork can truly create a project that surpasses all your expectations.
